Either way, Mihawk lost to Shanks but never had a rematch since Shanks lost his arm.

Mihawk probably fought Shanks after Shanks left the Gods Knights to hang out in the east blue, which is how he told Mihawk about Luffy. They could have been fighting eachother since Rogers execution though

More than likely before and after

Luffy as a kid knew Shanks when he had a scar and still had both of his arms

The only thing that stopped Mihawk from dueling him (as far as we know) was the loss of his rivals arm

I don’t see why he’d stop before that. It’s not like Shanks lost usage of his eye or anything
