We know that Ryuma obtained the Black Sword after countless victories, one of them when he defeated a dragon and protected Wano from the World Government. My theory is that Ryuma defeated Im, who possessed a Gorosei with the Uo Uo no Mi. And that was thanks to the Black Sword Shusui, a clear reference to how Oden Kaido wounded (Shusui>Enma).
