If we are specifically talking about the MF events he should have simply tried to avoid the war and in general aforementioned to get even more fierceful with Kaido venturing to MF. Shanks' objective was to stop the madness to our knowledge.

not exactly, i was asking a question based on a claim this thread made. red admiral explained it away with character development, i.e. starting to care more for balance than to avenge oden.
