It's a 50/50 fer me
On the one hand, she is fer sure the Evil MVP & Oda kinda did her dirty by the off-screen offing
On the other hand, evils shouldn't really ever get a dignified death.
I'm not surprised, just a tad disappointed. She was just too good at being bad.
My guess was that Orochi would've poisoned her outta fear, which woulda made more sense fer his character
A family betrayal woulda been more satisfying than an off-screen thumpin from the guy that owed her a 'Thank You' :tchpepe:

That's just how Kaido is. Kaido knows she saved him, but he wanted to die an honorable death, so he hated her for that.

I also would like to see her dying and not getting off-screened like that, but I guess Oda felt like it was not important.

I certainly think Oda will show it once again when we go back and revisit "Kaido's past"

You see.. Oda only showcased the flashback through Oden's point of view.

But from Kaido's actions with Momo... his words with Oden about him having a spectacular death that will be talked about for ages. And him in current present time looking for a grandiose way of dying.... AND the fact that Kaido and Big Mom has history together... and Rox Pirates... I'm more than certain that Oda will enevtually tap into Kaido's mind... and we get to see a flashback of him starting from Rox days... EVEN IF it was just snippets and small panels... And along this small view of his past... I'm pretty certain that Oda will somehow lead it to where this old hag... interrupted and ruined his duel with Oden... and eventually showcasing Kaido's fury against her for doing that... and killing her... and the end result is... slowly and slowly after time passes since Oden's death... and slowly Kaido's mentality finds boredom in life because he cannot find the same feeling of battle as he did with Oden...
So.. Oda will probably lead the flashback and all the actions into that final moment of realization of him wanting to start the "Biggest war" so that he taste that feeling once again... the feeling of not knowing if he can win or lose... that same feeling will give rebirth to his sensation as a warrior.

Anyway... what I'm trying to say is that once we get to see the past from "Kaido's view"... we will see how things ended with the old hag and Kaido.

maybe, while in a fit of rage, Kaido hit her so hard with his club that she blew to pieces and it was just too gory to show. I wonder how the barrier guy died

I kind of think the barrier guy probably died of old age. He didn't appear at the battle as far as I am aware. The old lady brought on her own demise, but the barrier man was never shown to cause trouble. Plus he was really useful to Orochi.

In all honesty, she was more walking, talking convenience than a genuine mastermind. She was only there to help Orochi rise to power and get Kaido to Wano. Now that those things have been accomplished, no need for her to still be around. Besides, her powers (which were the only things she had going for her) have been put to better use by Bentham.
