I don’t understand of dragging the story of One Piece for so long. This whole Wano arc is a massive disappointment, just like the previous arcs Whole Cake Island, Zou, Dressrosa and Punk Hazard.
Unnecessary characters getting introduced and chapter by chapter we only get events of characters talking to each other and characters fighting and talking mid fight. Zero-character development for Kaido and the Beast Pirates. So much for being “the arc” for Zoro.
King and Queen (my favorite commanders thus far) are bat shit, literally trashed along with Kaido. Kaido and the Beast Pirates don’t live up to their titles thanks to how the story has gone downhill.
It would have been better if this arc was focused on Zoro’s identity and backstory and the Shimotsuki clan instead of the Kozuki clan that was introduced for no reason with their appearance at Punk Hazard. This is how most would’ve preferred it:
Unnecessary forced characters like Yamato (a guy’s name) that shout “I’m Oden” and I’m a man, when it’s clearly a woman. If Yamato was called “Izanami” or “Kaguya” or any other girls name it would’ve been better, not being a blank character, and being a strong woman. The only strong women I know are Hancock, Big Mom and Devon that don’t go out shouting “I’m a guy” and that’s what makes them so unique. The design of “Yamato” is epic, however her character writing is so bad, because the only redeemable qualities she has is her being good to rebel against her father, and to sail the seas.
Honestly Oda has taken the road that Kishimoto did. Why? I don’t know, I could list reasons, but I don’t know if either of them would be valid. The only thing that got me back is because of the latest Joy Boy (was obvious) and that’s the only thing that got me interested.
Naruto went downhill after the fight with Pain. The only thing good that came out later and that lived up to its name and title was Madara Uchiha. This is what I was expecting Oda to do with Kaido and the Beast Pirates. I guess Momo stuffing his face into Nami and Robin’s boobs is more important than focusing on someone like Kaido and the rest.

- Zoro’s identity and backstory
- The story of the Shimotsuki clan
- The story of Ryuma and his sword Shusui
- How Kaido took over the country by force
- The last of the Shimotsuki and their leader die honorably against Kaido defending their country. Those who survived wait for the day to overthrow Kaido.
- Kaido’s backstory and how he’s a literal beast that everyone fears even the high-ranking marines.
