Powers & AbilitiesDiscuss Why Swordsmen Don’t Go Around Chopping Limbs off People in One Piece Yet They Cut Through Mountains and Creatures Like Butter.
Might as well ask why Luffy punching people doesn’t obliterate them into messy chunks of meat, which is kinda what happens when the human body gets hit with the force of a speeding garbage truck.
This is the same manga where Usopp can survive injuries that would kill you in seconds irl (someone analyzed that skull damage and came to that conclusion)) to
Why are people using the excuse “because this is a shonen”? Other shonen series have no problem cutting off limbs. Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, and plenty others do it....
People are tougher than mountains and creatures. It make sense don't you think. If you are able to cut mountain and creatures you probably are hard then that. Also, since beginning of series with people not dying and receiving huge amounts of damage you can also understand that. Like the will of P familly. Pell surviving a nuclear bomb explosion. Pagaya surviving Enel's attack. Pound surviving Oven's blade not cutting his head off. And I bet Pedro survived his own explosion. Well not so sure now that Nekomamushi is going to face Perospero but is still possible.

It's obviously because this isn't a series interested in portraying gore by choice, isolating swordsmen is also pointless since it's a design philosophy that applies to the everything and it's the same reason heads don't explode when Luffy punches them and people don't become mangled charred remains after Nami zaps them.

This. One Piece is not a dark, grim series that wants to focus on physical violence and gore.
The series is supposed to have a light hearted and fun tone, as well as the focus on adventure and comedy. Oda stated this multiple times.
