Speculations DNA of former Shichibukai or just DNA from former slaves?

We know somehow they were able to use the DNA of Kid Boa and Kid Mihawk.

Most people think WG managed to extract DNAs from all or most of the previous 7 Warlords but alternatively what if the WG used the DNA of slaves held in captivity?

Why are they the kid versions of Boa and Mihawk and not their adult versions? That could mean the DNA was extracted when they were kids? We know Boa was a slave as a kid as a 12 year old, and it would have been much easier to experiment and extract blood from slaves as opposed to a reigning Warlord for instance.

So could Mihawk have also been a slave as a kid? Not much is known about his past, but when Oda drew him as a kid, he seemed quite roughed up, so a troublesome childhood is likely.

Interestingly, Boa developed a distrust for people due to her experiences, and Crocodile mentioned how Mihawk is someone who doesn't trust anyone either.

Mihawk being a slave would bring a nice twist to the “wounds on the back” thing but I think it’s the warlords

Oda has already told us Mihawk was training since a child and then went to sea to fight strong people, now how would he be a slave?
Also by the time Fisher Tiger saved the slaves, Mihawk was already someone famous

LoL you Shanks fangirls come up with retarded takes all the time

It's more probable that they collected the blood samples of strong pirates whenever they could in the past decades. I suspect that cloning Kuma was the proof of concept from Vegapunk (even if The Germa 66 did that already) that he could replicate his strength easily. Mixing in Lunarian DNA and whatever else was needed for those little cyborgs was probably a lot harder.

As for why they are childlike in appearance, I see two possibilities :

1. To be more powerful than the PX, the Seraphims had to been given more autonomy and "intellect" so to speak, and full grown clones of some of the strongest fighters on the planet seemed like a bad idea for someone up there - what if a mix between Mihawk and a lunarian went rogue, when it's clear at his size and age, he's already playing in the same league as billion berries pirates ?

2. Vegapunk and the World Governement are actually playing the long game : the Seraphim were made as child so they could undergo a tremendous growth once they'd be unleashed in the world.

What's more surprising is that the Seraphims seems to have personnalities. The Boa clone has serpent earings and a far more smiling demeanour than the Mihawk clone. And they don't even wield the same weapons.

For me it's clear that those aren't just human weapons like the original PX. They have far more agency, and it'll be interesting to see that.

Also, totally calling it here first : Luffy will think that cloned Boa is actually Boa when he'll see her for the first time.
