Character Discussion Do people appreciate Kuma.

Let's delve back into prime piece.

Kuma might have been the coolest character from pre timeskip. He gave us some of the best moments in the story.

I feel like people aren't that enthusiastic about him possibly re-entering the story. He's right up there with Garp and Aokiji, Smoker and tashigi for those nuanced scenes that made One Piece seem so deep dark mysterious and adult. With Kaidou being a crybaby drunk and big mom being a klutz or what the fuckever. I would welcome a character that literally changes the mood of whatever scene he's in.

He was there when Doflamingo was first introduced. Trolled Moria Vanished Perona in thriller bark. Completely wrecked the strawhats, watched Sanji and Zoro sacrifice themselves. Made Zoro experience hell. He made the crew vanish which don't lie it sent chills down your spine and made you question everything. Lost his mind in Marineford and oneshoted oars jr. And finally protected the thousand sunny for two years. He did all this for Dragon and of course his own reasons.

You know what I still don't get? Why did the WG allow Kuma to stay at Sabaody for 2 whole years?

I get why VP programmed that mission in his brain, but Kuma is WG's property. And CDs aren't really the understanding type, especially when their toy is protecting the ship of one of their prime enemies (even at that time).

So how come they let it fly? Just because they had other Pacifista? I don't buy it, bc Kuma is Kuma. There's only one original specimen with his DF intact, amd as we saw postTS Kuma is a sought after slave in Mariejois

Kuma was interesting to me in the beginning, especially when he catapulted the SHs, but as time went by and he kept reappearing, I lost my interest in whatever his story was.

Now that we are finally getting his backstory (probably?), I do not care about him at all. There are a lot of things happening which are more interesting.

He was programmed to protect sunny.

Even if wg gets their hands over it they will still find it difficult to control him as it goes against his programming

OT- was hyped about him during tb and sabody and now just don't care much.

Well Kuma worked a deal out with the WG. They didn't have control over him at least by the point of thriller bark he was doing his own thing. As one last bargaining chip of his complete compliance he made that deal. They likely know that Kuma was once a revolutionary why else would Kuma be allowing them to modify them. Maybe it has something to do with his kingdom or Bonney.

Maybe Imu wanted to destroy his kingdom or maybe they wanted his daughter and to protect the two he gave himself to the wg. You know what, fuck that makes since. I can't see Dragon using Kuma as a bargaining chip no matter the circumstance so it was probably Kuma's own wish.

I get it, but he's still an asset being wasted by sitting on Sabaody
With the resources they have they could have destroyed the Sunny completely, or made VP reprogramme him

I love flashbacks, probably the only similarity I have with Oda
Kuma is one of my favorite 20 characters, so I still enjoy his story

Kuma was a member of the Shichibukai, so he was free to do what he wanted, in exchange for his cooperation. Part of the agreement to go full cyborg, was for him to be programmed to protect the Sunny until a member of the Straw Hats arrived. Vegapunk honored that, and at the time, the World Government wasn't in the position to deny Vegapunks decision, when the future of their military operation rested in his hands.

To the World Government, the Straw Hats were assumed to be dead, so Kuma's final wish, was a futile endeavor. Coupled with the fact that the Celestial Dragons seem to really hate Kuma for his race, they probably wouldn't have cared if he died during those two years.

Yeah, great point. That indeed is dumb, the only explication is that they didnt knew he was there. Remember that the headquearters were moved to the other side of the grand line, so when the straw hats went to sabady the second time, the place seemed kinda ruled by Pirates, when before it was ruled by the marines.

Lots and lots of potential, the whole pacifista killing his personality plus the fact that it took so long for his backstory to appear is Oda failure. At this point he's not that interesting.

Also a ridiculously cool Devil Fruit, wish we had seen more of it sooner, but at least S-Bear exist.
