Last sentence kind of debunked your argument here, Kaido also uses his DF a LOT in fights yet he still has great Haki. Same for Luffy and Issho.
Nothing says BB has to be a fruit merchant and only a fruit merchant especially if he really is the final villain because then I'm certain just powerful fruits alone won't cut it.

I mean he has like 30 years of experience just fighting using haki and brute strength alone.
