General & Others Do you feel like the payoff in One Piece matches the buildup?

Do the events in the story match the hype that Oda creates?

None of the supernovas other than Law have had satisfying stories, we still don’t know anything about the void century, we’ve barely seen tons of the character we’re interested in (Shanks, Blackbeard, Mihawk, Aokiji, etc), haki is incredibly convoluted and underwhelming, no new ancient weapon stuff in the last decade, etc.

Dedicating so much of the story to BM and Kaido after we already had a more interested overarching story established was a bad move writing wise.

For me, the only time it did was Lucci vs. Luffy.
For me it’s less about fights and more just that characters I want to see and mysteries I want resolved have been put off for longer than it makes sense and is only serving to make me not enjoy the current story since I want to see what happens next.

Anyone who believes One Piece Ending is not worth the wait/ride, should drop it in my opinion, cuz they would be just wasting their time.
Also those who stopped buying One Piece, doesn't mean they stopped reading it, they are spending Money after all, so they decided to read it online instead from time to time
I’ve actually seriously considered dropping it for a few months now

One Piece has acute, short term, post fight, and long term payoff. Oda delivers generously, as part of a karma system within the series, but it's probably not for everyone.

WCI Luffy acutely gets THREE power ups, and in the short term he accomplishes his goal. Post fight he secures Jinbe and the road map. Long term... I mean you're full of shit if you say something along the lines of expecting him to emerge as fifth emperor, with a tripled bounty, from a Sanji retrieval arc where he didn't even fight the main opponent.

WCI Sanji is obviously the second most important. Acutely he is able to show the great man he's become. Short term he's able to face his insecurities as a Vinsmoke and Straw Hat. Post fight we see that he will never get Judge's approval despite being the best in his field by far and actually matching the Vinsmokes (even beating Yonji) despite a lack of endowments... but that it doesn't matter. He is happy who he is and with his true father. Long term he goes from the heartbreaking engagement betrayal to winning over his perfect woman AND NOW we see that this experience has made him a much stronger man physically.

You don't have to like these things but that doesn't nullify them or necessarily correlate to anything with sales.
