Questions & Mysteries Do you find it odd that the culture of pirate apprentice is gone?

Pirate apprentice apperently stopped and don't exist anymore. Back then whitebeard pirate has Marco as apprentice. Roger pirate has buggy and shanks. Rocks has kaido. But then you have shanks that don't allow Luffy to be his apprentice as a kid. What happened to these old pirate culture? It just disappear. What happened?

Shanks also rejected the kid in the most recent chapter. Obviously he’s strictly against that, maybe from his own experience?

Well, the closest thing we had was Momo, and he kind of shows why having a kid in the crew isn’t great.

He either has to be stupid OP for his age or the kid just… won’t actually do much.

It’s a lot easier to show the characters in the past, since we only get little snippets of their lives.

Suppose he could have stuck one in Kid or Law’s crews, but they aren’t important in the slightest either.

You have to be top tier strong to have a apprentice. Roger and Whitebeard were ones for example.

This just explain how Shanks is weak.

And Luffy has Chopper who is young enough to be considered an apprentice.

Tbf big mom have her kids on her ship and territory. Some are actually ministers and shit

It's why I always saw Tama4Nakama as a headscratcher. Apprentice is such a dangerous position when you aren't in the protection of a Whitebeard or Roger.

The introduction of pirate apprentice to a crew such as Straw Hats is basically free Plot Armot on steroids, since he wouldn't kill a kiddo and everyone would be protecting him with their bodies.

Big Mom has plenty of young children who are active and Kaidou had Ulti and Page 1 who grew up in the crew.
