I hate that cop out, it’s not age, it’s quality and effort. The Oda who strived and worked hard at the start is not the same one who is here now. One Piece became a commercialised behemoth and Oda phoned it in. It’s as simple as that. Someone who was dedicated to the story would have seen the shortcomings with age and understood that he needed to expand / incorporate more aides (not blatant sycophants) but genuine assistance m, so that he could focus on the story and have the art and other elements done. If he had humbled himself and done this the quality would have been way better.
