Zoro being a descendant of Ryuma has always been a strong known theory so it wouldn’t bother me if he’s a member of the Shimotsuki family. But I get why it would bother some.

I also doubt Zoro has any living relatives that would make his rise to the top look inevitablelike Luffy’s, which helps his story.

Zoro joined Luffy's crew,l that by itself helps Zoro more than any special relative.

I find this need of some people for Zoro to be this blank slate without any significant past or family background to be really weird not going to lie. Especially considering he was the only other person aside from Luffy in the initial East Blue crew to be even given a goddamn last name. NOTHING about his family or history prior to Kuina is known. AND he is very clearly the descendant of a guy called the Sword God.

Just fucking accept we will learn more about his family, and that at least one of his parents is probably going to be somewhat important!

I can't help but wonder why some people are this weirdly invested into Zoro being a blank slate without a further exploration of his background. Zoro is not a badass normal or some shit anyway. Stop acting like there is not some genetics involved in him being the monster he is. Zoro has been extraordinarily weird from the get go. He survives stuff that multiple in-universe characters think to be utterly impossible. Just accept that Zoros dad probably was from Wano and belonged to the Shimotsuki family, and he is named after his mother's family like Ace.

And I for the life of me can't understand why people are this invested in Zoro NOT having a backstory! People being of a strong / important family doesn't invalidate their achievements, for fucks sake! Whoever Zoros dad or mom were, they surely weren't the WSS so Zoro will surpass them anyway. Barring Oda pulling some shit and making Im-sama one of Zoros parents, he WILL surpass them both!

For me at first i did not want anything special for zoro but after whole cake i expected something to come from zoros past simply because oda always plays with sanji and zoro if sanji is (a prince) and all this stuff with germa then oda imo would definetly give zoro something...shimotsuki or a daimyo of wano imo something for zoro and sanji to argue about, with that being said i have no issue with him being connected to ryuma etc i think its a wonderful connection to his story monsters and a way for him to tie the two stories together and at this point with all these possible connections with luffy ie. joyboy,nika,etc zoro is bound to have something... also if zkk is a thing then that even further ties to ryuma and that story so yea i'm here for anything oda gives Woro

I hope he doesn't wield important connections and still manages to become the World's Strongest like Ryuma was at least supposed to be in his time in that possessor of the strongest warrior soul. That would prove extensively amazing in my opinion.

thats fair i just think its to much set up already for zoro to not hold any important connections but time will tell
