From the hints we got, it's safe to assume Zoro is a Shimotsuki. I mean that's not like the greatest family and it doesn't take away his strength or anything, we already know that he achieved most of his strength through training. With that said, being a Shimotsuki doesn't mean Zoro is destined and born as someone great who should be the greatest because we are learning about his family and bloodline that's it, nothing more nothing less.

If the Shimotsuki Bloodline, like people say will make Zoro as someone who is destined for something great then why is Yasuie not special?

We have got plenty of clues and hints like Zoro having the same Blood type as Ryouma, same Birth month and the birth month(which is November) literally Translates to Shimotsuki, "the month of frost". Zoro, Ryouma and Shimotsuki Ushimaru(Zoro's theorized father) are almost spitting images of each other.

Zoro means Fox in Spanish and Ushimaru had a pet fox(however that connects lol). Zoro is said to be a Japanese If looked at a real world perspective in an Sbs by Oda, and we all know that land of Wano Kuni is Japanese based.

Zoro rarely connects with People but he immediately had Yasuie and Toko following him and it's known that Yasuie is a shimotsuki while Toko is theorized to be one too. He also met Onimaru who was a pet of Shimotsuki, also Kawamatsu told about Shimotsuki Ushimaru to Zoro after exploring the land of Ringo where Shimotsuki clan situated.

Notice how most Shimotsuki related things in Wano is centered around Zoro? Forget about these because in some Sbs when Oda was talking about Shimotsuki Kozaburo he hinted Zoro's lineage immediately too. By far the most obvious thing would be Zoro being a Shimotsuki and maybe not knowing it himself or he just doesn't care about it maybe that's what "Sunachhi" was all about.

I don't know if Oda can afford a fullscale bloodline reveal like Sanji with the Vinsmoke in the middle of the raid. Maybe it will be revealed after the raid that he's a Shimotsuki when he visits Ryuma's grave, and it will take like 1 chapter, but nothing more, nothing grand.

I would like that too.

He will become the next WSS World's Strongest Soul and not just Swordsman presumably. Perhaps he is just fated to follow the footsteps of the legendary Ryuma and that encounter on Thriller Bark set an important twisting point to his growth, followed by Mihawk's training.

I can't help but wonder why some people are this weirdly invested into Zoro being a blank slate without a further exploration of his background. Zoro is not a badass normal or some shit anyway. Stop acting like there is not some genetics involved in him being the monster he is. Zoro has been extraordinarily weird from the get go. He survives stuff that multiple in-universe characters think to be utterly impossible. Just accept that Zoros dad probably was from Wano and belonged to the Shimotsuki family, and he is named after his mother's family like Ace.

And I for the life of me can't understand why people are this invested in Zoro NOT having a backstory! People being of a strong / important family doesn't invalidate their achievements, for fucks sake! Whoever Zoros dad or mom were, they surely weren't the WSS so Zoro will surpass them anyway. Barring Oda pulling some shit and making Im-sama one of Zoros parents, he WILL surpass them both!

It pretty much set in stone that all the strawhats are special and are the chosen ones.
So it wouldn't suprise me if Zoro is from a badass/swordsman family, he was destined for greatness and it doesn't take away the hard work he put in to improve himself.

It would also explain why Zoro wanted to be a swordsman too because it felt natural for him.
