In the latest new opening, we get this scene right here.

It clearly shows Koby and the rest of the Sword members, but at the same time we also see Kuzan and Akainu in the background.

Could this mean that Kuzan and Akainu are also part of Sword?

It wouldn't be the first time when the anime opening spoiled something major for manga readers, remember when the anime spoiled Denjiro being part of the Scabbards.

Akainu and Kuzan arent sword members. SWORD consists of Marines who essentially resigned on paper, but still operates on behalf of the Marines and WG. They can do whatever they want, but the Marines assumes no affiliation if they screw up. And Drake of all people is their leader.

Kuzan knew exactly who they were, so no reason to assume Akainu doesn’t know either.

Drake was confirmed to be the captain of Sword. Kuzan is not a marine anymore.

My guess is that Akainu and Aokiji were former members of sword before they became admirals.

No Akainu and Aokiji are just there because the anime opening was showing the contender spread.
