It's not even that annoying tbh. It's less of a gag and more of a device to build her character quickly.
She fanboys over Oden so she values the same things, but will drop the act once his will is fulfilled.
The only moment that felt cringe to me was when she said it repeatedly to Momo and Shinobu, but it's clear even Oda realizes that's messed up considering how they react lol
I'm just tired at how much people seem to ignore how cool she is overall and only focus on this one character trait to say she sucks.
That's the thing though.
Her design is cool, her strength is fine & she has a connection to ace. That's all well and good, but understand people are annoyed by her because that's all her character has offered when on screen.
Even the few back and forth with Kaido is just a rehash of the same thing we already know, aside from kaido going through trouble to get the devil fruit.
All people want from Yamato ( myself included ) flesh out her actual character ( none of the I'm oden shit ), show us her backstory and drop the I'm oden shit.
Yamato has potential to be a dope character, but when I say that they're bland and lowkey boring isn't me focusing on the negative.
For a possible future strawhat Yamato isn't really all that good outside of being strong. At least with Robin we got some of her personality & there being this mystery with her that made her interesting, even if she did join out of nowhere.
Yamato's introduction feels like Oda is trying to force this character down our throats and saying "you should like them. Please like them." Just like when Oden was 1st introduced & a lot of people ( myself included ) was very much turned off by it.
I'm not saying this to bash Yamato or talk down on people that do like them as a character/future crew memeber... all I'm saying is ( so far ) personality wise Yamato sucks & their purpose outside of role-playing oden needs to be explored to the readers.
As it stands Yamato design wise is an 8/10 but everything else is a 2 or 3. Their entire personality is "I am Oden" & "I hate my father"
