Title. I really don’t care for an explanation especially not from Vegapunk because that would imply there is actually some science behind them. The thought legit never crossed my mind but lots of people are expecting Vegapunk to lore drop about them.

I think it should just be left as is. All the world knows is that they are supernatural in nature, spawn randomly around the world, and cause the Sea to hate you.

I refuse to believe they are linked to any form of science regardless if Vegapunk can clone them with tech. There’s literally fruits that let you turn into mochi or an ancient deity exclusive to closed off nations.

I honestly don’t care. I don’t care about anything Vegapunk has to offer. Science in One Piece just sucks to me.

Nope, not sure why it even needs explanation. Devil fruits, Chakra, Ki, Nen, etc all these don't need to tell a story of its origins. Power systems origins should not be explored unless it is part of the main plot for example Uchiha's sharingan. Sharingan needed to be explored because its plot was related to why Uchiha's were revengeful. Or in AOT how Titans originated. Those examples were important to explore the origins because they are directly tied to the main plot. However, there is nothing plot related that needs devil fruits to be explored. Leaving them a mystery is totally fine. (Yall better not reply back to me saying "but devil fruits are tied to will power and will power is the part of the main plot of One Piece").

Knowing Oda devil fruits are just going to be associated with the lame "tree of life will power" that Japanese manga love to use.

I'm afraid oda doesn't know the answer like most of his mysteries
Lmao, I still want an explanation on what the hell were those monsters seen at the end of Thriller Bark, explanation for Oars and if he made Wano, what are the Ancient Giants and their relation to Kaido’s race…

Yeah Naruto would’ve been so much better if he kept the Sage of the Six Paths a myth and avoided that whole Kaguya, aliens and magic tree mess.

Rinnegan could’ve just been a mysterious mutation and leave it at that

Interesting theme, an explanation of how they work by altering the DNA I would even like, but I think one of the worst things Oda can do is create an origin for them, this goes against the whole theme of a mystical world that is One Piece.

It's like atoms, they exist and that's it.
I‘d go for a “they all originated from a huge tree” concept, but it would have to be done right.
