depends on person perspective to look at character traits.....

for example I like Luffy because of his self-confidence, determination, unwavering will, never losing his self because of situations and at the same time doesn't show discrimination, doesn't feel like some big shot, goofy nature, doesn't look badass etc......but others won't see the same way and may have different view on the same characteristics and hate him.....

Take Sanji, his chivalry will be viewed as his strong point by some people where as labelled as pervert by some other people....

take Zoro, some find his character interesting because of his badass nature but some find it boring because they view it as some kind of edgelord characteristic....

Some like Bigmom because she is dangerous and unpredictable but some hate bigmom for the same unpredictable nature of her character....

Some hate Akainu for killing the Ace while some like him for being a proper villain....

Or take One piece....some enjoy it because it is very light hearted, comedic, and won't go tragic route, most of the time ends on a happy note even for a irrelevant characters.....and some hate it because it doesn't have enough deaths and tragedies to their taste.....

Bottomline is that people have different views about the same characteristics of the same character or manga...

I like gruff characters who have a big heart underneath and a funny side as well. Also One Piece is a comic about pirates and Zoro is the most pirate within the crew (his name, his appearance, his outfit, the sword held between his teeth). Finally, I love samurai and Japanese swords. It was very easy for me to choose between Zoro and Sanji.

Like it can't be environmental....since we all watched the same damn series.

So what makes a person a Zoro fan in comparison to a Sanji fan.

A Yonko fan in comparison to an Admiral fan.

??????
Why can't it be environmental?

This is plain wrong.

Don't you consider the fact the environment is not just about the intrinsic series but also the external world and even the Internet?

Its almost entirely the same for me, except for Akainu. In my opinion Akainu is too monotone of a character. His powers is burn melt burn melt. His character is burn melt burn melt, his motivation is burn melt burn melt

some people don't like flawed characters, they wanna live the dream of perfection and superiority
some can relate to those flaws, they find comfort in weakness, think that makes them more human
anyway, it's an inferiority complex kind of thing
