Haki first introduced to mainly being a counter to Logia devil fruit users...
While it has brought so much balance into the one piece world battles post time-skip, i kinda miss the rock-paper-scissors matchups in pre time-skip (especially Enel VS Luffy)
What do u guys think?
(don't forget to vote in the poll guys! thx)

Well I think it was a necessity at some point. It is a power that has such diverse way of usage. May it be armoring attacks, weapons, etc, foreseeing attacks, feeling presences, conquering other's minds with sheer willpower.

In my opinion it underlines the way the story is working. A lot is dependent on willpower. So what better way is there to make an actual ability out of it?

true right, it's a necessity for a long-running manga, hope oda will make something fantastic about it tho in the future... not just a willpower based ability
btw, i've made a poll! make sure to give a vote! thanks

No it was a good move on Oda's part to bring in haki into the verse. Without it all top tiers would just be characters with insanely strong logias.

Just fighting logias and hoping to find their one plot contrived weakness would get insanely boring as hell.

No characters would be able to fight another who cannot be touched regardless of their strength or overall battle poweress. No natural powerhouses such as Garp, Roger, Rayliegh or Mihawk would even exist.

Yes.
Haki is nothing more than very badly done Walmart version of Togashi's Nen.
I prefer OPM or HxH battle system more than Haki
Devil Fruits are completely different topics because they were actually fun and interesting until Walmart Nen came into life.
df battles are amazing and unique, haki is just kinda boring compared to df, but let's just hope something interesting is planned by GODA in the future for haki xD
btw, i made a poll!! feel free to vote! thanks

i agree with this, logias were such OPs and i loved haki when it was first introduced to counter Logias, but as the story goes on, the battle with Hakis just kinda feel boring compared to df battles, just my opinion tho

Nah. But what I would like is for haki to be better explained. Right now its usage seems very inconsistent, unlike Devil Fruits which have been fairly clear cut. And outside of the shared weaknesses and characteristics, no devil fruit is the same, so Oda doesn’t have to explain every interaction. We can infer based on the unique devil fruit.

Haki, however, is universal. Everyone is capable of learning haki, and even applying it the same way. It makes things more linear, but that can be arranged through more elaboration.

Are there divergent paths to haki mastery? Is haki strength tied to haki amount? Is haki proficiency corraleted with haki strength?

We can presume some of these based on available information, but it would make discussing haki so much simpler if we got at least 1 chapter dedicated to an in-depth breakdown of haki beyond the basics.

But... But enel used mantra :wellwell:Some kind of observation haki
If he doesn't use mantra i guess the fight will end quickly and boring

So, I dont think haki ruin one piece. Otherwise it makes one piece more interesting.

If in one piece there's no haki, then logia type df should not be introduced in the first place too

Yes, it did!

I think Haki should have been a power that ONLY allows you to touch opponents who are logia, and that's it

Rest should have been left to creativity of DF match ups, where Luffy finds weaknesses of seemingly invincible DFs like Crocodile fight for example

Would have been so much more creative to find ways to deal with "Magma/Ice/Tremor/Darkness/Flames"

I think having the idea of "armament hardening Haki that turns like Steel is SO BAD
Because it completely negated the uniqueness in different fighting styles

By that, different awesome things like:
- Rokoshiki
- Hassuken
- Fishman Karate
- Black Leg / Red Leg Style
- Okama Kenpo
- Itoryio/Nitoryo/Santoryo...etc

And so on and on fr Different fighting styles LOST their unique awesome features because things just became dependent on "how strong is your armor in those attacks/defenses"

As for observation, no consistency in using it

I would have prefered Haki to ONLY be two shades:

1- King's haki cause it's awesome visually

2- Haki as spiritual power to allow you to TOUCH logia powers

But hardening and observation are bad ideas that ruined the fights/scale/uniqueness/and the idea of Good match up pair

Haki has not removed the matchups etc.

it's just another dynamic to consider in combat

Like, weaker Haki can still break defences e.g. Bellamy vs Luffy
