No disliking a character because of some fanbase is childish and retarded
Call it what you want, but a person's view of a character does change when that said character is continuously getting trashed. I mean the Sanji and Anti-Sanji people do something like this. Calling a character a pedo and shit like that constantly really sometimes makes you look at Sanji as a pedo. It just gets too annoying. And like Garp the Fist said I never cared too much Carrot but the constant push by her fanbase to make her a nakama was too annoying and I was happy that she lost to Perospero just so her fanbase would shut up. It is not as much dislike (it is in a way) but you don't want that character to succeed.

Take ZKK for an example, as a standalone theory it was good and I would have appreciated it but the annoying pushing that it got from a select few of the fanbase made it really annoying for the others and even for some Zoro fans too. This is not to say that only a specific fanbase is a problem since the "rival" fanbases play their role of adding fuel to the fire by overreacting to these things.

my view of characters dont change because of annoying fans. if people bring good arguments for sanji = pedo, then maybe i can get that your view of the character would deteriorate, but not because of random internet retards annoying behavior. if you let your opinions get skewed because of shit like that, imho your mind is weak af (and what i said earlier)

Lmao I was just trolling but yeah it is based on a phenomenom. It started way back on Oro Jackson, the big op forum before WG. And people there were already overwanking Zoro to the point where some people just couldnt feel the character anymore because people online came with the most ridiculous hot takes in history to justify unimportant things like power level and narrative importance. I for example still love/loved Zoro but I couldnt watch nor read Zoro content because most fans didk't knew what they were doing.
I am all up for quality content, but this wanking and comming up with hot takes every new minute was kinda annoying so I passed on that.

If i already liked the character no, like Zoro, even with his fanboys, i still like him a lot.

But if its a character i already dont like, i believe it could influence me, like Akainu, he is shit, and his fans have become some of the most idiots of the fandom

I don't get hating a character because you hate their fans. It's childish and out right dumb as the character has nothing to do with the fans. If you have a amazing character but the fans suck that doesn't mean you have to hate the character now. Perfect example for me is mingo fans. I don't like mingo fans but mingo is still one of the best characters in op to me.

Yeah I think this is more like what I was trying to say, perhaps there is already a part of the character that just does not resonate with you and it gets affected/amplified by the external forces.

It is perhaps the overwank which sometimes makes you seem like a hater when you don't wank along or counter the wank?

Or you can just ignore the clear over wank. I do it all the time with Luffy fans every time he gets a pu. I mean every time the guy gets a power up he can either solo Zoro and Sanji or solo his crew yet it gets proven wrong every time yet those same Luffy wankers come back every single time saying it. or now luffy's BG is somehow stronger than 2 yonko combined hakai. For the most part I ignore the over wank because that's all it is and it has nothing to do with Luffy and how I can still enjoy the character. The fans and characters are separate entities and don't go hand in hand. You can absolutely despise a fandom but can still like what they are fans of. I don't get why someone would not like a good character because they don't like fans of the character. You have the mental capacity to separate the 2 and you have the ability to just ignore just not caring about people who clearly over wank characters. If someone is trying to make you over wank the character because they are you can just disengage and leave.

Another example is Zoro my favorite sh. I don't agree he's stronger than Luffy or that he's the strongest in verse but I just don't engage with the conversation that makes those crazy statements because it's blatant over wank.
