I guess if I already dislike a character(for example, Carrot), then having an annoying fanbase makes me happier to see her get sidelined than I would otherwise

I'm the same way the last thing I'm worried about is what other people might be experiencing while reading the chapter, I'm just tryna understand/enjoy the chapter myself. But when I log into the forums and see some fanbases down bad, it does give me some joy. It's funny seeing good banter.

Not sure. I don't like when Oda thrashes a character and fandom pretends Oda is actually treating them good. But I don't change my opinion because of fandom only because of Oda.
Sanji for example. I used to like until WCI. Than Oda made him dirty.
