It appears to me that Luffy has received a significant buff in Wano. Being able to use G4 from base should remove his time limit making him more of a monster than he already is.
We saw Gear 4 Luffy box evenly with Kaido for an extended period of time 1v1. In my opinion he would have lost due to the time limit and Kaido just being stronger. Regardless though this makes Luffy Yonko level in base now it was debatable before I think it’s less debatable now.
- Small Gear 4 means he’s able to limit the transformation to one part of his body, likely because he’s aware his powers are transformation based and not just rubber. Because he’s able to limit the transformation, the haki usage drops significantly
- However, Small Gear 4 does not give Luffy the durability boost that Gear 4 gives him by making his body more elastic so it’s a pure AP boost but his durability is just that of his base.
- If Luffy uses Gear 4 in its full form, the haki timeout still will occur because just Luffy would still just run out of CoA.

While it’s true that the elasticity is limited to to the body part he’s attacking with doesn’t that also mean he could make the remainder of his body mimic that in base?
Time limit is still there, as long as he uses the original G4 transformation.
Partial use should not include the usual penalty because a lot less haki is being used.
The issue is that it probably limits his skillset a lot and things like Kong Organ cannot be pulled off but we'll see.
Also, I wouldnt call it significant buff, it just devaulued his gears even more. Now the only relevant gears are 1 and 5. Everything in between became insignificant. While his base is improved, it will bever be as good as OG gears, despite lack of drawback. At least so far you could excuse him losing due to drawbacks but now that excuse isnt an option anymore...

No cause that still requires the “Muscle Balloon” if Luffy can move around the muscle balloon like old school G3 with bone balloon then maybe and it would be a great way to use future sight for him, but we haven’t seen that yet.

I guess he’s proved that he can by using it from base. It wouldn’t make since for him not to be able to. But if you need to see it first that’s fine. Honestly I don’t think soda will ever go that in depth.
I don’t know if I agree. It depends on how efficient he is with it. I can see why you would say that. But if he can just use it where he needs it instead of exerting himself constantly it will be more effective.

I do think gear 4 has been power crept so that level of strength wouldn’t be enough to defeat a Yonko. However, it could be enough to ware them down before using gear 5 which has the drawback. It’ll allow Luffy to take people down in one round of gear 5 potentially.
I guess I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to use it in his legs for mobility like he did his arms for power. He should be able to spring off of his legs, cut it off and while flying use g4 in his arms.
This is just speculation but it makes sense to me.

I get that I think you get everything at once with a full g4. However, with the partial transformation he has to actively manipulate where the change occurs. It could be a speed to transformation issue. But I see it like full body CoA vs using CoA on a specific part of your body.
