Questions & Mysteries Does Luffy have any formal training on how to fight?

#3
Garp trained Luffy as a kid.

Also read the flashbacks on Ace, Sabo, Luffy, they have battle experience since they were 5.
I don't remember garp teaching fluffy how to fight he just left him with the bandits.

Battle experience is different from formal training where you learn how to fight in a particular way.

The 3 other fighters in the crew have formal training
zoro - dojo
sanji- black leg sanji
Jimbe- fish man karate
Luffy trained with Garp as a kid and with Ace and Sabo as a kid. No formal training.

On a side note, why are you counting Sanji? Sanji doesn’t have formal training either his fighting style is self made as well.

I may be wrong and garp trained the trio. but the second panel showed 3 strong kids defeat a tiger (it did not imply that they have any skill sets)
and the 3rd panel just showed garp commit child abuse. we have no panel looking like the panes we had with coby and helmempo

is fighting style is not self made. it is obviously similar to zeffs

To be fair looking at Coby and Helmeppo training with Garp directly, Garps training regimen is Child Abuse

that is the thing we have panels of garp actually training both of them but none of garp training the brothers (he only committed multiple counts of child abuse)

It is, I’m not saying he didn’t learn Zeffs style, but I wouldn’t call it formal training. Looks more like he just got his ass kicked so many times he learned to emulate Zeffs style and trained it by beating up Patty Carne and annoying customers
getting his ass kicked by zeff won;t teach him how to kick

Again that’s just Garps training style. Even as a teacher in a classroom child abuse is still there.
no it is not. we have actual panel of garp teaching people how to properly fight (coby and co) we have no such panel for fluffy and co.
all garp did was toughen fluffy him he did not teach him how to fight

You don't need to be part of a McDojo to be a capable fighter. Garp has real life combat experience which is superior.

garp punching him won't make him punch like garp. if it is like that why is helmempo not also a boxer like gar and coby.
Oda took real life inspiration here. Garp can tell him how to punch show him the technique etc. then proceed to pretend he's in actual fight.

Garp's punches aren't strong to Garp, since he can punch much harder. This isn't the standard to raise top fighters, but some of them came to be that way.

The problem here is your thinking is too limited to the McDojo approach. World champs aren't raised and trained that way.

Cause Helmeppo didn’t want to learn how to fight like Garp but Coby did. But same question, Garp trained them formally, why did Helmeppo learn a different fighting style despite having the same training as Coby?
