Oda literary created zoro to attract all the brain dead retards to gather and focus on one place. This is a good strategy since he can develop his own story and other relevant characters without much of a problem. It's not like those retards reads the story as it is. They dnt have a single brain cell to understand a simple manga. To make OP popular you need to distract those retarded fans and guide their focus to a one place. Basically zoro was created for that very reason. While intellectual people focus on the story these retards can just focus on zoro and that's a win win situation for Oda himself.
