Agreed.We are slaves to many addictions nowadays:trends/social media,porn,drugs(never did any btw),ideology/political fanatism,fast food(sugar-salt-fat),lazyness and so on...
But in our defense,past generations weren't as much exposed to such stuff.So are being victims of our time.

the people are slaves to the elites

They control nearly everything if you can get married or if your allowed to get a abortion or not
