Wouldn’t put it past Oda at this point, but I like to assume that the story will actually head in a good direction, so I have Kid as being dead for now since it logically checks out

Why make the Barto Pirates fate unknown while the Kid Pirates are stated to be a totally destroyed, if their fates are the same? Worst case scenario, Barto alone survived and the rest of his crew died, while all of the Kid Pirates are fish food

To be honest I have no idea what Oda wants to even do with Kid. Law usurped him in popularity as a rival supernova, he isn't as threatening an adversary as Blackbeard or Shanks, he doesn't have the wild card gag to him like Buggy, and he seems completely irrelevant against the backdrop of the World Government.

I feel like just making him eventually become another ally under the Strawhat grand fleet would be a humiliating and borderline disrespectful trajectory for his character. Him being killed by Oda's self-insert is almost a more respectful end for him than that. Because I don't trust Oda to make Kid seem like a genuine threat for the PK race.

Kidd stans still have to provide a logical answer as to how a DF user can be under the water for the last ~80 chapters and still survive somehow. And be 30 chapters into the arc he was "supposed to return" and still have no mere hint whatsoever. The BM/Luffy in Wano cope doesn't work either because both of them were shown washed up on the beach in the very next chapter(s). Kidd has shown no sign of returning for 75 and counting...
