Dont confuse being good with having common goals.
Doffy might help in the end, not for being a good person, but because he has grudge against anything celestial dragons control.
If helping Luffy will help his goals, he might do it.
Maybe in one piece shippuden we might see Doffy new empire.
Luffy might be PK but that doesn't mean that he will destroy all evil.

Doffy without a doubt is the most cruel and sadistic character in one piece, if he actually redeems himself and tries to be a good person, it would be much more interesting if its through self reflection and regrets rather than Tsuru gave him a bath. We'd miss out on so much great character development, we'd miss out on him asking Law for forgiveness, I'd rather his redemption if it does come, come slowly over time it should feel earned and not just oh Tsuru washed him off screen so he's a good guy now
