Kaido started off great. But luffy and Oden wank killed my enjoyment of him.

Dudes power set was really cool and his drunken dragon fighting style was rather fun and powerful.

His backstory and ideology about bringing everyone into equality through war could’ve been great

However, after his introduction all it became was “Oden this” And “Samurai that.” And eventually oda threw him into the same annoying role of acting like a training dummy for luffy to get stronger and constantly wanking oden. Which for a major saga ending villain just really annoyed me.

Kaido would indeed had been better without Oden to dehype him.

Not to mention the “Kaido top 5” moment honestly feels weird in retrospect. Like why is oda showing us all these people Kaidos afraid of when he’s supposed to be the worlds strongest??

In hindsight it should’ve been the emperors silhouetting behind Luffy and having Kaido refer to him as the fifth emperor indeed to make it about how high luffys climbed to earn that title rather than just being given it by Morgan’s

I dont think so, as you mention, by portrayal they are in the same tier and Big Mom should arguably have minimal chances to win if they fight is an extreme diff, the fight being extreme diff means that the upper hand could be decided by mistakes.

And Big Mom doesnt have bad feats, Law and Kidd at the end did not defeat her to unconscious. I also think Kaido has more possibilities to win.

I dont think the scene with the 5 behind him indicated that he was afraid but simply that he had respect for their Strength... you can have respect for someone and still be stronger

You are reading the manga wrong if that is how you interpret the scene. He is clearly mentioning characters who he respects. He only with king was going to attack WB. Where does fear comes in lol
