As much "hype" dragon has, I can't see him get any significant win combat wise with his position in the story

characters like akainu and blackbeard are guaranteed to get solid combat feats and show of their power as they will be fighting a powerful luffy near eos. Dragon probably wont fight luffy or any strawhat
The only person it really makes sense for dragon to fight is Imu (if we assume hes a fighter, which isnt guaranteed), and even if he does, there's no way oda would let dragon be the one to defeat such an important antagonist, as that role would be for luffy. This means if he did fight Imu, he would most likely lose and then luffy would be the one to beat imu, which would make dragon look lame. There just doesn't seem to be enough powerful antagonists left in the story to share with dragon. Its obvious that Akainu and blackbeard have most buildup to be defeaten by luffy rather than dragon. There doesnt seem to be any room for dragon in the story to really shine and prove hes a top tier fighter
