Current Events Dragon seems to agree with the Garp slander

Dragon's, but I think this whole thing should've been fleshed out more.

We should've seen the good Marines that help people whom Garp wants to protect, and learn how he wants to protect them, so as to understand his point of view more.

And we should've seen Dragon and Garp actually talk about all this, actually have a convo instead of just:
"Yo"
"I HATE YOU"
"K"
I don't get it. The first part sounds like wanting to know more about it, but then you already know.

I think their relationship will come around in the story because obviously they were still talking as of Water Seven

Sorry, didn't get you there.

If it makes what I said a little clearer, I meant that Garp's side of the argument should be given more examples/substance.

As in we need more onscreen good marines to showcase why people like Garp and Harald still choose the WG IMO.

Dragon's case is pretty justifiable because of GV, but Garp at this point seems to have a weak argument by comparison.

For one thing this is already a major component of Koby's character, though. Between the way he protected Koby and the way that Koby has inherited his legacy.

GV showed us that in his prime, the only two pirates who were able to stand in front of him were Rocks and Roger. The reputation of such a guy would massively discourage pirates from picking a fight. I don't like how things were handled with the contest and Imu, but I can see the point is that in addition to being conflicted Garp just isn't particularly smart and not visionary at all.

Dragon is 19ish with the Trauma of realising that your Role Model's heroic Job was all a Sham

He's not gonna be reasonable, and Garp knows he would lose Dragon as a Son forever if he tried to debate him

Dragon when all’s said and done will be the most outright heroic character in the series imo, only held back by Oda’s terrible writing of him around the Reverie and Ginny.

Garp is far from a perfect man. He puts the bonds he’s forged with the Marines above all else, including, as Dadan points out, his own family.
Ginny's fate was indeed horrific, but she was a soldier who was captured. The burdens of a leader of something like the RA is the whole before the individual.

After all, look what happened to the Whitebeard Pirates when they tried their own rescue.

We already have: Smoker, Tashigi, Koby and so on.

Fisher Tiger stocks have skyrocketed recently.

A lot of people were shitting on him for not risking everything to raid Mariejois to save her.
The one time Oda writes a responsible leader the fans shit on him 😂
Dragon has been working nonstop for decades to topple the corrupt government but hey let’s just drop everything we did and will do for the sake of humanity to try and save our cute friend, and miserably fail at it

I mean,Luffy would have done it,he never leaves anyone behind. So maybe people expected the father to be more like his son. By the way the Ginny things is still a forced choice by Oda because when she was just a kid she managed to communicate with pirates, and now that she was an adult and a trained soldier she didnt manage to comunicate with the Revs for years, and also Kuma, considering his powers, could have tried the rescue alone or with some of his friends

Hopefully we get a Dragon FB. I still think one is coming, especially with his life and how he meets Luffy's mother (probably Tritoma) while commanding the RA.
