Wanted to make this thread because I wanted to speculate on a potential matchup in elbaf that I am feeling quite strongly about. That is the rival duo vs Beckman and Shiryu.
I think that this matchup is necessary for a couple of reasons:
First off, I think allowing Kid and Law to have these wins would serve as good development going forward. Ultimately, these are just side characters and hence we can't expect them to do too much. Oda did eliminate them from the PK race after all. However, Oda is yet to confirm either of their deaths, even in the case of Kid who's situation seems extremely bleak. So I think we should expect some development from them in elbaf. My guess is that this development would be in regards to their haki, as that was the primary reason for their losses against the yonko.
Beckman and Shiryu are portrayed to be powerful haki fighters and the duo beating them would show significant haki development on their parts. My guess is that Law gets FS against Shiryu whereas Kid gets ACoA/ACoC against Beckman. This ultimately serves to keep both characters relevant, in line with however relevant Oda has portrayed them to be, going into the final war.
Second, it would remove enemy players that nobody is available to deal with. Teach vs Shanks is set in stone from pre-skip. As is Zoro vs Mihawk. So Beckman and Shiryu are really up for grabs regarding who will defeat them and from the looks of it, Kid and Law are the best matchups. Sanji would be better suited against Kuzan, with him getting a top tier opponent paralleling Zoro's. But with Kid and Law, you have these two opponents that not only match their fighting styles, but also play in well with their character arcs. Shiryu is a swordsman, Beckman is a gunman. As are Law and Kid(Kid's ultimate move is a giant cannon). Furthermore, in beating these two, Law would be able to save his crew, whereas Kid would be able to pay back beckman for taking his arm. I don't think anybody else would fit these two opponents as well as Kid and Law would.
Lastly, these matchups would aid in the destruction of the BBP and RHP. Post elbaf, there should be no yonko, just Luffy, the pirate king. That's what these matchups will serve to accomplish. The defeat of the BBP and RHP right hand men will solidify the destruction of these crews, with Zoro vs Mihawk solidifying the destruction of Cross Guild. Post elbaf the only major pirates will be Luffy, and his meager rivals. This would parallel the Roger era.
