Shows the lack of narrative comprehension when you think the dude who broke the protagonists will in a manga in which will is put above everything rlse will be beaten by somebody else.
^THIS

The big enemies of this manga are Im/Gorosei and Blackbeard
This panel pretty much said it all
All that panel shows is who Im-sama considers a threat. Thats all it's meant to indicate.

That's why Akainu is never bound to play a significant role EOS.
He's the literal embodiment of the Marine's philosophy of Absolute Justice. The primary opposing force to the theme of Freedom thats been prevalent throughout the entire series. You'd have to be delusional to think he isn't going to be significant at the end of the series.

He might even lose next arc considering
Uh no. Oda isn't killing off the one man who managed to break Luffy's spirit as some sort of side villain. Thats not how Akainu's been portrayed and thats not how Oda writes.

BB is the best final villain candidate, Akainu doesn't even come close to that.
They're both "Final" opponents for Luffy. Teach is Luffy's final Pirate antagonist and Sakazuki is Luffy's final Marine antagonist.

Nope it just means that i follow the manga.

The marines are just the "outward face" of world government. They know nothing of the true history between D and Celestial Dragons that happened 800years ago. They are the ones who erased everything from the void century long before the current marines ever existed.

The world government is the one who started the idea behind Shichibukais despite marines hating pirates, they are the ones who are making deal with Wano despite the marines being unaware of anything. They are the root of everything in this world, with the marines led by Akainu being used by them while knowing nothing of the true story. So yes, Akainu is a side villain in the entire thing between D and Celestial Dragons

Didnt sengoku know everything. Maybe sakazuki as fleet admiral will too.

Maybe but the final villain is BB or at least we can say that BB has very big chances to be the final villain while on the other hand Akainu has almost 0 build up for that role. Then he can be the final marine antagonist for Luffy, sure.

So a rookie with the Mera—Mera fruit will go up against the Fleet Admiral, whose fruit superiority is highlighted as the great weakness to his precursor, and win? The very same guy who had his hands full with Burgess recently?

It would be very backwards for that to happen. I can see Sabo playing a part in Akainu’s defeat. Like how Law was a factor in Doflamingo’s or how Zoro and co. tried to stop Enel. But I see Luffy as the prime candidate. He’s the main character, he witnessed Ace’s death, Akainu has a perverse drive to put a hole in Luffy, likewise Luffy is now scarred visibly due to Akainu. Gauge the early time skip reactions Luffy had to both Blackbeard and Akainu’s successes, one he seems indifferent towards and the other he clutches his chest and scowls.

Second only to Imu-sama, Akainu’s philosophy contradicts Luffy’s goal. They are primed to fight.

It's gonna be both of them in all likelyhood. Red Hawk from Luffy, Hiken from Sabo, flashback to sake cups and all that jazz. Sabo needs to do it cause he's inherited Ace's will, feels shit for not being there when he died, he's a Revolutionary. Luffy needs to do it because he was actually there when Ace died, it was kinda his fault and is the main character. So they'll both sock him.

Then we move on to Blackbeard, Im and the Gorosei who are the real star villains.

Luffy saw Akainu hole Ace right in front of him and that gave him psychological trauma badly.
Akainu almost killed Luffy and Jinbe, Luffy's crewmate too.
Even in Fishman Island, luffy held his scar and showed anger on the mention of Akainu's name.

Sabo just read the newspaper that Ace died. He wasn't there himself. He dosen't hold a big enough grudge against Akainu.
Unless Sabo's awakening gives him hotter flames, i doubt he can defeat akainu.

So, Luffy is the better candidate.
