Yeah he got done dirty at the end. Not as bad as the Demon King from Seven Deadly Sins though.

Just did a binge read of Kimetsu no Yaiba from start to finish (1 - 205.1), and seeing Saori Hayami getting casted as Yamato this past week is really reassuring now, especially what happens to Shinobu (you'll know what I mean if you finished the manga)

an extremely tragic death at the hands of Douma which consisted basically of rape, decapitation, verbal abuse/torture and cannibalism all in one; though her sacrifice did eventually lead to the defeat of Douma and even Muzan, as well as curing Tanjiro of Muzan's demon blood

Yamato's definitely much stronger and should be in good position to be around for a very long time
