Speculations Favorite Small Unsolved Mystery?

#28
It's break week, so there isn't anything new to discuss, at least for the manga proper (there are some new Vivre Cards dropping).
A lot of current speculation and theory crafting is fixated on Egghead and the Void Century right now, but are there any mysteries in the series still lingering that you hope will be solved at some point? Or even concepts/locations/people mentioned that have not been shown?

Personally, I'm interested in the purpose of Lodestar Island. It shouldn't just be a plot device used to introduce the Road Poneglyphs. The bit about Crocus lying can be waved away as a retcon, but will we ever see the island? What causes it to have such odd magnetism? Is there anything on the island that informs travelers about the Poneglyphs?

Post any other mysteries you're fond of below.
Why shouldn’t lodestar be a plot device? It is literally why Roger knew there was more to the world.

we’ll probably see Lodestar, my assumption is that’s where Law was heading and that’s where the Burnt Scarred man is.

favorite unsolved mystery: who’s the person crocus is sharing a drink with. My guess is Calico Yorki

True.
Still doesn't explain to me why WB would use a supplier that's openly (or less openly) a minion of an enemy. One would expect such intel from yonko.
For me Doffy felt like the kind of guy that had a finger in every pie, selling all kinds of underground drugs, weapons and at one point even slaves, all that while working for the government as a shichibukai.

I dont remenber correctly but, i think he only started mannufacturing and selling smiles during or after the timeskip, didnt he?

Basically anything can be a plot device if you really justify it. In this case, Lodestar Island seems like something that was made up after the original 5-7 year plan for One Piece. It's an in-universe way of necessitating the Road Poneglyphs, which allows the story to go on for longer while also explaining why the Yonko weren't able to get the One Piece

My favorite unsolved mystery is who threw the paper at Chopper in Punk Hazard.
Some people theorize it was Monet, some say it was Law.
We never really got the answer to that and I don't mind it. Some mystery never hurts

And that is perfectly fine. Plot devices arent inherently bad
