Hello again everyone! My buddy is watching One Piece for the first time and this week we finished up the Little Garden Arc
As to avoid spoilers for him, its my job to summarize his thoughts here, as well as get opinions and/or questions from all of YOU as well! If you'd like to hear our full thoughts, you can check out our podcast here!

The Giants
He was fine with the new race being introduced, thought it was fun, but doesn't love the "die for honor" trope that happens in so many TV shows, this was no exception. Although he did mention that he was really impressed that one giant killed the other one, as he wasn't expecting that AT ALL... And then the giant just came back anyway. He's getting frustrated with all the fakeout deaths that keep happening and just wishes Oda would stick to his guns a bit more in that regard. He expects that one day they will certainly make it to Elbaf.
Usopp - The Great Warrior of the Sea?!
Back in Syrup Village he actually really liked Usopp, and he liked him in Arlong Park as well. However, he's getting sick of Usopp constantly finding his courage, and then seemingly having lost it again in the next arc. The character just isn't developing fast enough for his liking, and when it's practically the same exact situation again and again... He's growing annoyed with Usopp.
The Fights
They were fine. Not the best, not the worst. He really didn't have any key moments to talk about. He did like that Zoro and Brogy were willing to chop off their limbs and fight until they die. And he found it funny that Luffy broke the candle piece, which just made the situation worse.
Sanji's Phone call with Crocodile
He liked this. One of the few moments in the arc he was actually invested in, and he likes that Sanji is finally doing SOMETHING. He enjoyed how this moment made the plot shift, and how Crocodile sent Mr. 2 to kill Mr. 3
Finishing Thoughts
He didn't have much positive to say about this arc. He said it felt like filler for 90% of it (Sanji's call being the exception), and he was annoyed at how the arc ended with them in the EXACT situation they were in at the end of Whiskey Peak... The only difference is that Luffy didn't destroy the Eternal Pose this time. That only made it feel more like filler.
I don't disagree with him, honestly. Little Garden is a pretty forgettable arc that doesn't really do much to move the plot forward. However, next week we are going to be discussing Drum Island, which I am INCREDIBLY excited about! A lot of really good stuff coming up.
