There is pretty much no consistency with anything in Naruto. Kishi can't even keep consistent with who the strongest Hokage was, he changed his mind every 20 chapters.
You gotta shut your brain off if you want to enjoy Naruto, it has great fights, some really cool characters, but everything around that was a dumpster fire of contradictions and plot holes. It doesn't help when your MC is one of the biggest contradictions in the show like you said.
It also blows my mind that in a show with so much thought put into the fights, you can summarize Naruto's fighting style with this one meme.

And objectively, OP sales eclipse Naruto's sales even at the height of their rivalry.

Also it's clear that from this, the only reason Naruto has even 10% of One Piece's popularity is solely because of the anime and One Piece's absolute disaster of a 4Kids anime which pretty much killed any western interest except some parts of Europe.
To be fair those are all the chapter releases, for the volume releases he actually makes it look good.
