[FNZ] Role Madness Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

Ratchet

The End and the Beginning
Hayumi didn't submit any kill Night 1, I don't know why as he was in the chat talking a little bit so was around.

Night 2 I shot Polar Bear and cursed bittersweet.
Night 3 I shot Indigo.
Night 4 I shot Orca and cursed Poyser.
Night 5 I shot Poyser.

Reason I cursed Poyser was because I wanted to test if it would work, logically I felt like it wouldn't work on Frieren, and also with the curse healer being 3 shot I felt like another curse needed to be used to avoid drawing too much attention to that. I also thought Poyser might have kill immunity, I half expected my kill Night 5 to fail and go in with F4 instead of F3.

I can't explain why Indigo had his results fail Night 2. My guess is scum invest blocked everyone or something. My curse went through on bittersweet but my kill failed on Polar, interested to know what happened that night @Fujishiro

I was pretty genuine with my scum hunting, only exception was Orca who I wasn't sure on but had as potential scum, and I actually shot him the same night that Poyser did. I thought Tepig had good chances to be scum, especially without being able to explain why he survived, and I didn't have such a confident read on Ekko that I was willing to overlook that. So I laid out my issues with the lynch and ultimately went there because it felt like the best move.

Remember I wanted to lynch scum early, as Serial I'm not comfortable with mafia until I can be reasonably sure they only have 1 left as then we're equal. The only mafia that really blindsided me was Rej who I really thought was Town. I lynched him there because I didn't want to risk Alexis changing uo and switching to me when there clearly appetite to flip me, and at that point I was starting to think there were only 3 Mafia though I didn't understand why Fuji wouldn't include Aura. But everyone else felt so townie, including Rej.

I can't really speak to this because unlike me who basically played town for most of the game, I do think Hayumi played it more like he would as scum. So I accept all of this Flower, I just don't accept what you're saying about my play before the penultimate day phase onwards. Because that day (the day Rej was lynched) was the day I felt I could be the only scum left at which point I had to switch up.
Uh, after WoW I have zero reason to believe you’re ever this calm about an Ekko lynch. If you actually thought he was scum, fair, but on your read through you had him as probably Town and I think as Town you care much more about being correct on him. It’s subtle things like that you might not be aware of yourself. But as Town you care a lot about being correct and consider your take on him to be better than other people’s . It’s hard to say for sure since he subbed, but coupled with Hayumi‘s usage you just seemed like scum to me, to the point I overcame my own mech. It was just hard to reconcile you as teamed with Polar and there was no way to know about a Serial.

I will say that there were some things you did near the end that started having me lean you as scum but I got lazy last night with the conversation about Alexis. I knew he was a roleblocker but having been a RB in a game as scum, I could see the argument for him. Though, I guess in hindsight, my failure was in not considering a SK would have it as it wouldn't make sense or so I think anyway.

I'll take it that I had three of the four scum right. Just have to learn from this and do better next late game.
Yeah towards the end I'm more playing to create a path to win rather than solve so it doesn't surprise me it would stadlrt coming across differently. I just had to bank on me having done enough earlier game to make people push those thoughts out of their head. Catching more experienced players when they're Serial is hard because we know that you want to be pretty townie early on and then consolidate it later, you also do need to tank a read or two (like I did with Orca this game) to offset how much of a threat you are to scum. If scum think you've caught some of them but will be off the mark later, they're more likely to leave you so you can push the wrong directions, and if I only catch one scum, people are going to start to think I could have bussed which gives me some room to be alive but also puts the threat of town back on me, so I needed Polar dead to offset that.

It's an ever shifting gameplan basically. The main difficulty I would have as Serial is surviving long enough to win because if it gets to late game and I'm still alive people will be asking why. BTAM still being alive helped me a little on that but it didn't take the question away entirely. But on play it will be very difficult until you get to the end.

I'm telling you the truth Flower, if Ekko himself were in the game it may have been different but as it was and the circumstances being as they were I thought there was a reasonable chance of a scum flip with the mech evidence against him, my Ekko read was not so strong as to overwhelm that.

As Town and Serial my first and main consideration is being right, as I need scum dead and on the backfoot. If I can create a scenario where they don't have the luxury of killing the Serial I'm in a good spot. But my play around Tepig was fully genuine.

Well, not how I perceived it. Granted I might have been biased from Hayumi.

Haven't read the game but while counting votes I saw Alexis screaming "Ratchet is SK" like milion times. Must be frustrating af
Bro. Alexis has been tunneling since day one and quoting phantom posts.

I was a little annoyed and just wanted the game to end. So I will admit I was tired and that probably didn't help.

I'm chalking it up to a mistake and will learn from it.

It can be, especially when it's correct but you know there is no real basis in reality for it being correct, it's just an incidental guess. The main frustration actually is people using this as evidence of his process working when it just doesn't, he hard tunnelled bittersweet earlier in the game in the same way.

He's terrible, but there's nothing there that I can give him a strike for, not without setting a precedent I'm not comfortable with setting. I would much rather hosts just start to turn him away, at the very least he will never be welcome in my games until he shows considerable improvement and sticks to it.

I feel like Hayumi didn't really leave me off in a great spot. I think he misplayed Serial in that he was more focused on turtling up to survive rather than just commit to trying to be town. Granted maybe he was just really busy. The no kill on Night 1 was rough but in the end worked in my favour. I was really surprised he survived Day 1 to be honest, as I was reading that if I didn't know he had survived due to me replacing him I would have been sure he was lynched there.

I said frustrating, not validating

He‘s scummier as Serial than as scum for some reason. In Bloodlines, too. But yeah, shit spot to sub into.

I'm not saying you are validating him lol, it's just that people have, and they do so consistently. I think it's out of wanting to see him be better but to actually play against him is just... yeah not good. Don't worry, I know we don't disagree.

Could have been worse to be fair, but yeah. I enjoyed the game though, for what it was. Think we had some good play in spots and it was nice and chill. I do think these smaller games are more my thing now to be honest.

Only regret I have is half assing D1 and D2. But Cop is a rough role to play since I just never live long and I wanted to try living a bit longer. Atp I prefer being VT or having weaker roles.

Very glad this slot died, basically everything I abhor in a player. Does nothing and then expects you to work around him because you know he always does nothing. Basically the selfish, entitled player that expects to be given free rides through the game because of how he plays.
Yo @Ratchet do you mind if I add this to my sig like I do for Lukas similar comment on OLF?

GGs Ratchet

My reads were pretty good this game but unfortunately I was not able to give my full attention to making the pushes I desired

I will continue the never ending cycle I am trapped in of having games where I will push too softly on reads that are correct leading into a game where I will strongly push in the complete wrong direction

I was hoping to hear more out of you on that last day. I wanted to know why you said Ratchet.
