If Oda wants you to get caught offguard/not see something coming because the PLOT requires it, he won't care that you are supposed to have CoO/FS
We need to stop having dumbass debates "Oh this character got caught offguard here he has bad CoO" or "This character couldnt see X coming so he has bad CoO"

If Kaido one of the characters with the worst reaction time, couldn't sense his home getting raided, scabbards sneaking up on him, could barely dodge attacks on the roof, is now revealed to have FS then it's useless to have any CoO proficiency debate about anyone really.

Btw FS is 100% an overrated ability as both Kaido and Luffy have been hit countless times in this raid.

FS protects against lethal/knock out attacks, and ultra fast attacks you want to deal with.

Nothing until now has been enough to push Kaido into that territory. Single attacks far beneath his capacity to recover aren't a problem, taking a round of Hydra that he was POWERLESS to deal with otherwise without FS and a new form are. Without FS he would have lost the fight to Hydra, so yes it is important.

Both Luffy and Kaido are brawlers who prefer to take attacks head on and counter attack you, than try to dodge.

Kaido took all the hits from Hydra, he was even fooling Luffy by sending a flying kiss to him and screaming it heurts lol!!
Je just wanted to show to Luffy he Can dodge his speed attacks and outblitz him with fs.
Kaido cound have tanker multiple Hydra without Big deal

CoO needs to be turned on. Same with CoA and same with CoC. All haki needs to be turned. Theres no such thing as something thats always on.

If a person gets cheapshotted or sneak attacked by an attack they ahould relatively be able to dodge. There CoO wasnt on.

Simple as that.

In Kaido’s case….his CoO is never on because he has no need to turn it on. He believes he can tank anything…and has no interest in dodging.

it's situational even in battle.
luffy was hit, saved and caught off-guard during/outside of battle so many times despite him using future sight 24/7.

also there's no reason to believe that kaido wasn't using FS before this chapter. an argument can be made that he can't use it when he's drunk, that's why oda specifically created a phase where kaido can remain clear headed while being drunk aka "thieving drunk".

This is why I don't like CoO even less than CoC because Oda activates it whenever convenient.

Kaido has 20k total forces with Orochi's samurai, a lot of them CoA and CoO users not a single one bothered to switch their CoO on for once. What about King, Queen, Jack?9


CoO is stupid in terms of how Oda portrays it.

There's a big different between using future sight and be focus it on one person, or using future sight casually and feel around, katakuri could see pudding that she will fall down without focus on it, and he could use it casually too when those organisms dealers attacked, but he couldn't feel flampe when she attacked Luffy or her presence because person can hide his presence, Luffy happened to him the same, because he's all focus is on kaido and not what is around him, and it was in middle of attack, if Luffy wasn't focusing on kaido he will feel about what the CP0 boss even without using future sight

FS is an awesome ability it's just Oda who is bad at drawing fights that can't use it properly

Diavolo from Jojo-Golden Wing
Can see the future up to 10 seconds and earse the frame

Luffy should be at least dodge most attacks

Oda can't draw fights its his great weakness for decades

One attack-Talk- skip
One attack-talk-skip
And repeat

That's his scheme it's really bad
Most mangakas doing better than him

So many awesome abilities

Nice point, I would agree to it if only the manga did not contradict itself with CoO masters getting surprised all the time.

I concede to the point of being subconscious. Perhaps there is more to it.

Future sight is an ability that is just begging to get thrown out when convenient for the plot. Oda himself cannot see the future of every detail of the story, so it is impossible for him to implement it in a consistent way when he himself doesn't even know when he's going to need it to conveniently not work.
