I mean isn't that obvious. No one is saying they are exactly the same. Just that sanji's equivalent was gaban from Roger pirates. Sanji and gaban have completely different styles of fighting also.

People hate on gaban just because of some feint connection to sanji for being number 3

Same way people try to use Rayleigh to wank zoro to pretend his role to the captain and crew is the same

Most Zoro fans will include Mihawk , tashigi , perono , ray in top 5 because they are all connected to Zoro.

Akainu fans will have other admirals in top 10 and so on.

So it's understandable why Zoro and sanji fans will support ray and gaban their equivalents of Roger pirates.
