Speculations Garp, Sengoku and Rayleigh will also fight when Luffy takes on Akainu

In SBS 82, Oda talks about how much he likes old characters who are still strong. He is still hyping up for example Garp with backstories. Will he never show Garp, Rayleigh and Sengoku go all out?
All of them have somewhat retired, they don't do the daily business anymore. But they all still fight when they are needed. Rayleigh fought Kizaru and now threatened Blackbeard. Sengoku fought Jack. Rayleigh knows the True History, he wants Luffy to succeed. Garp wants to take responsibility for his family. When Luffy attacks Akainu, Dragon will probably be with him. He will fight his father. Sengoku will fight Rayleigh.

No way. We just witnessed Onigashima raid and having a ton of characters fighting was shit. He wont be able to handle so many fights and the fight scenes with the old legends will look bad. He'll let them be bystanders or whatever but their time has passed no need to bring them back in a full out war.

The problem with bringing old legends into the current scape is a lose lose situation. You bring them and have them fight the current gen which they are bound to lose against similar rank guys (they will be jobbers), you given them lower rank opponents and you disrespect them. They might have a role like Marco at maximum in the endgame where they entrust everything to the new gen. On the other hand the current gen gain nothing from defeating old guys because they are old, not at their best/prime and hence can no longer be used to really hype the current gen.

that must be why whitebeard is held in such a low regard. akainu and bb also for defeating the sickly geezer.

People have shat on Admirals ever since MF because of this. So many nerfs and even then Akainu was removed from the battlefield by WB in two shots. BB and Akainu are only thought of as strong due to their potential EoS opponent status. That was the change of guard and hence WB needed to be removed from the story, he was part of the old gen. Look at how BM was treated in Wano, you want that to happen to Ray, Garp and Goku. Understand the panels required to do justice to these legends, the fights, motivations, backstory, drama would require too much. Nobody wants another Wano fiasco with so many side characters getting more panel time than the MCs.

Look at the point of story we are in, it is time for the new gen, the MCs, to claim the top, they are going to beat the gen preceding their own. The panel time must go towards setting up their opponents.

Of course if the Final War is going to be as big as they say then there is the possibility of these legends participating but I hope Garp would fight against the WG this time.

I would like to see Dragon having a haki fist clash with Garp, like the one with Chinjao, and Dragon winning even without his crazy weather power.

Garp will be the most hated and cowardly character if he does not go against WG this time. He already sat and saw Ace die in front of him, if he goes against his family again all for the sake of his pride as a marine who are defending the most evil group then Garp would be the biggest son of a bitch.

Rayleigh yes. After all it will be a huge final war.
But Garp and Sengoku seems like almost completely retired for me.

P.S: Sengoku probably was eating and seeing the spectacle alongside Tsuru.
P.S2: Flame Emperor vs Akainu, not Luffy :cheers:
P.S3: Luffy will fight Dragon¿? wtf
