Powers & Abilities Gear 5 sucks ass

I’m still not sure what exactly this shit can do that makes it better than gear 4.
It clearly allows Luffy to stretch anything he touches and gives him more freedom.
Can you please explain to me what “more freedom” even means specifically and why it’s good in combat?

You guys do realize Luffy broke an island even bigger than Onigashima with Gear 4 back in Dressrosa right?

As Oda wrote, it mostly allows him to overcome "limitations". Gear 4 has a strict Haki limit. Gear 5 doesn't. Gear 4 would get clobbered in 1-2 hits, Gear 5 can tank multiple attacks.

But offensively ACoA Kong Gatling has been Luffy's best move so far. It's the only one that took temporarily took Kaido out, and he was close to 100% freshness.

Imagine adding ACoC to that^. But Oda took a dive the second he decided to use Snakeman (plus CP0).

He tanks more attacks way easier, and by changing the environment into rubber it also helps him quite a lot

He is doing damage way easier than before, while actually having fun and experimenting new stuff mid battle, since the Gear 5 is completely new to him, as for Gear 4 he trained it for 2 years and knows its limitations. That is insane

This punch of the size of Onigashima might be Luffy getting just serious now, meaning we might not even be scratching the surface of his full potential in Gear 5.

Luffy in Gear 4 was desperate to win and running out of time, used his best moves but couldn't beat Kaido (and certainly wouldn't, despite Mr.Go's intervenience)

It's on a whole other level

Yeah because G4 can totally turn the environment into rubber, tank way more hits than G5 and make island-sized punches. Seriously, G4 is shown to be almost a more limited version of G5, Luffy basically pushed his fruit to the limit pre-awakening, that was G4. With G5 he basically fights with little to no restrictions, although we still don't know exactly how it affects his health, it's clearly superior in power output
