Dont add as a Luffy fan as a prefix. Adds nothing? Are you for serious? He need not to consume haki to go G4, he can turn surrounds and others to rubber and thus reducing damage. Using rubber can also deflect attacks. He can endure many Kaidou attacks. He became physically more powerful. He is powerful enough to drag big ass dragon Kaidou all the way from live flow to roof top. Kaidou was unable to lose Luffy grip despite attacking him multiple times. So far G5 has improved durability. We are yet to see full fledged offensive prowess of G5. Too early to brush off G5.
Freedom = he can use his body like Mr Fantastic.

His body now is more "tricky", much more difficult to damage and he doesnt need to have Armament Haki turned on. Unlike with G4 where he was spending on each second Haki since he was entirely coated.
Island size punch, which he couldnt do before.
Giant Form.
Can run midair without "Geppo".
Can use Adv CoA + Adv CoC, before he couldnt, or that it was implied.
Can use his Gomu powers on the environment, useful against ppl with ranged attacks since it can give them back their attacks.

G5 is very impressive in versatility (flight, massive buff to enlargement, elemental manipulation, environmental control, malleablity, toonforce body manipulation of opponent)
and defense (zoan durability/regen, molding to weapons to take reduced damage, toonforce regen bouncing back to normal)
and for brute strength (it allows him to do freaky stuff that no one else in the series can even come close to (effortlessly swinging dragon kaido around like a jumping rope).
Luffy is still learning what his fruit can do and is less practiced and disciplined than he is in base/G4.

It's a "do whatever you want and get away with it" powerup. By having all this 'freedom' Oda has essentially given himself freedom to have Luffy do anything at any time while still technically making sense. What seems a fun power actually sucks the fun out of all of Luffy's fights from here on as it has no real rules.
