Gear 5 is base Luffy with concentrated FS + Internal COA aka Ultra Instinct.
Gear 6 awakening will make gomu gomu a special paramecia, Luffy will have the ability to create rubber clones aka Monkey King.

G2, his best gear, didn't really have a downside other than the unquantifiable reduction of lifespan.

I'm just not fond of the Luffy running to recharge thing that keeps happening in his post-TS fights.

Yeah but he didn't need to be babysitted for rounds between G2 either

What is the point. It will have drawback even bigger than G4. He is losing haki for 10 minutes with G4, with G5 he might lose body parts.

gear5 can reject any attack like club hits of kaidou, similar to tankman

There is no point in a new Gear unless in that new one his Haki is optimized somehow and he can last with it much longer.

Awakening would make more sense since he would turn environment in rubber and he won't need to use Haki if he can turn enough quantity of rubber (for defence for example).
