Your view of identity makes no sense to me. All of what you consider yourself is part of your identity. Physical, mental, emotional. Identity is nothing more and nothing less than who and what you ar
Did the scientific consensus about this change over the past two decades? Because I learned from experienced psychotherapists that what makes it harder for adults to heal from mental illness, is that, when compared to children, they are more likely to identify with their illness

Well, you can already guess they are republican family members. I still don't get how intelligent people can see Jan 6 and believe what is essentially 4chan shitposting about election fraud (that at first I also assumed was true) but then I simply googled around a bit and checked left and right wing news, to see that election fraud lawsuits by Trump's lawyers were checked BY REPUBLICAN showing no fraud
when your own party says it's not fraud, how can you still believe that?
They're not just republican family members, mate.

They are the kind of people whose worst selves are permitted and even validated by the likes of P01135809 and all his cohorts and enablers.

For these people, to believe in the evidences of their idols' guilt is to deny themselves the pleasure of (still) embracing their worst selves.

That is why they reject the mountain of evidences: so that they can continue being permitted and feeling validated in embracing their worst selves.

This is also true with people who are still following the likes of Tate, Peterson, Musk, and Crowder. It's a good thing you grew out of it, mate.

do you consider cancer or AIDS as identity??
You would have to ask to cancer survivor, they might take it as an identity yes. Just like people identify to their religion when this is just an ideology, its logical for people to identify to their struggle with an illness if that struggle forges their path in life, don't you think ?

I consider my past as part of my identity, I consider my family as part of my identity, I also consider my ideologies as part of my identity and finally, I consider my illness or rather the struggle against my illness as part of my identity.

some disabilities aren't illness while others are
Hmm... I thought about it and you're right, that's on me.

I will amend my statement to "disabilities can be part of your identity, but if the disability is temporary then that could be unhealthy." I stand by the fact that being blind is part of a blind man's identity
