the government is stupid. They have been against actual communication with AfD since the beginning and this only drove the AfD further away from the status quo and radicalised them even more.

I also don't know why the decade old right winger catchphrase "foreigners out!" has to be countered with "Nazis out!". It's needlessly provocative and escalates the situation.
