So like on Yom Kippur, when I donated 100 dollars to my local homeless shelter because I felt like I had some obligation to do so, you think that's arrogance?

Throwing money at a problem is not helping charity. Actually volunteer at that shelter and you'll be doing some good. You are not righteous because you feel compelled.

How can we tell, really? Other people have told people to die on this forum and got banned for it. Heck, even suicide jokes got people banned iirc? I've always prevented myself from making such jokes to toe the line, is it acceptable?

Difference is, how can we ascribe intent, really? Ultimately, it feels arbitrary.

I once stopped myself making a similar joke because I felt it would get me banned. Now I see it's allowed. Is it based on how people take it? Because then you'll get ban brigading.
