General & Others Gol D Roger has become totally irrelevant and Luffy's devil fruit is a retcon

#44
The more and more things play out the more insignificant Gol Roger has become. The One Piece was never his treasure. Everything has now shifted from GoldRoger to Joy Boy. What was the point of Gol Roger then? He didn't accomplish anything.

Changing Luffy's devil fruit 1000+ chapters into your story is a retcon. To suggest that Luffy's devil fruit is remotely justifiable to becoming one of the most mysterious powers in the series based off a random introduction by Who's Who's with a line of dialogue equivalent to "hey bro, Luffy's devil fruit is important".

It is clear Oda is writing things out his ass. It is really that simple. He does not have things planned out so he creates new story lines out of nowhere.
This kinda seems like you put Gold Roger on this God like pedestal and now your mad he isnt being the god you want him to be imo.

look Gold Roger was important in terms of a narrative perspective, he's like a prominent figure of the past and holds the truth of the world to us readers. and since we know hes prominent figure because he became PK and started the Age of Pirates, all we have left is the truth that he knows. since JoyBoy is always being referenced when it comes to history, it would make sense that the knowledge Gold Roger had, that kinda revolves around JoyBoy, is now being overshadowed by him.

when it comes to Luffy fruit being retconned idk about that, Oda is known for his red herrings im not saying its impossible what your saying is true, but we dont know at the moment, plus it would make sense for the government to take any fruits and hold them safe so the public dont grow in strength, even though they are rare they can be powerful.

Nope, not at all. I can care less about One Piece. I am only here to critique it. I don't care what direction Oda takes with One Piece. Also, I didn't put Gol Roger on a God like pedestal, that was Oda. I don't write One Piece, Oda does so I don't understand why you are blaming me? I am not the one that had every episode of One Piece start off with a Gol Roger quote. I am not the one that made my entire premise of my story about Gol Roger's treasure. That was Oda.

This isn't rocket science dude. You can easily measure if a situation in a story was retconned or not. This is the definition of a retcon,

"A piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency".

Please show me where in the manga where it was foreshadowed and developed that Luffy had a special devil fruit? If there are no examples, which is the case here, then by definition it is a retcon whether you like it or not.

My bad on the first part.
But with the whole Roger thing do you agree with my take??

With Luffys Devil Fruit situation, I may have misread your post I thought you were talking about the Gorosei discussion on a fruits name being changed, which was why i mentioned the red herring.

But yeah a CP9 agent protecting a DF, and being severely punished for it being taken seems weird and unusual, I guess that's the foreshadowing:suresure:

I bet Roger mediated between Joy Boy and Luffy. He probably acknowledged a destined child will have managed to find the treasure one day and accomplish whereas he failed. :josad:

I'm not very happy as well to see Oda change Luffy's DF after 1000 chapter, I liked Luffy in the first place because of how useless his DF is in the first place and how he managed to make it look strong thanks to his own effort. But I guess Oda wanted to add more power up to Luffy and he was out of idea with the rubber fruit ? :kayneshrug:
I'm also tired of all this joyboy/nika plot, it feels like everything is moving according to destiny and Luffy was never really in danger in the first place. :okay:

No, Roger was indirectly the reason for Luffy sailing to the sea since he "made" Shanks.

In case that we have confirmation about Luffy's Awakening being special, then yes, it's a blatan retcon.
