Hey forum!
Quick share here. I was doing some research yesterday and I came across a character from The Pirates of Penzance, a famous opera debuting in 1880. The character is called the Pirate King and his most classic characterization by actors like Richard Temple, Leicester Tunks and John Ayldon may ring a bell regarding another well known Pirate King...
Big bicorn with a skull on it, important moustache that curves upwards in its tips, captain coat with shoulder pads, sword and gun as weapons... Could be a coincidence, after all this is quite a common imaginery among pirate captains from popular culture, but how the character is literally called Pirate King may point to it being an inspiration of good ol' Roger.
What do you think?
