It was stated that they survived the attack, I mean they only have half the crew left without Yorki, and to survive Rocks attack seems like a unlikely scenario.

Surely. Roger was about ~25 years old when the Rumbar Pirates were killed, so he totally had the time to make a lot of noise around the world. And as I suspect that Xebec is even older than Roger (from Brook's generation probably), he might even be the one who destroyed the Rumbar Pirates.

In any case, Brook will surely have a lot to say about Rocks, since he probably lived the "Rocks' Era" at its apex.
