How disconnected from reality you have to be to say electricity is always represented as blue.

I mean, I can't think of a better known representation of electricity in popular culture than Pokémon's electric type, and it is symbolized by the color yellow instead of blue.

Yellow, Blue, Purple are quite common colors for lightning
